About This Study Club

The Apple Dental Implant Study Club, facilitated by Dr. Ali Mehdi, is a high-level community dedicated to clinical advancement. Our purpose is to create a collaborative and educational environment where clinicians can significantly enhance their surgical and prosthetic skills. We achieve this through structured discussion, peer-to-peer learning, and the unique opportunity for live case participation. The core focus remains on delivering predictable, efficient, and evidence-based outcomes across all domains of implant and reconstructive Surgical dentistry.

2026 Quarterly Curriculum: Focus on Foundational & Advanced Techniques

  • Session 1
    Date: March 1st, 2025
    Topic: Healing and Repair in the Dental Office
    Focus: Understand the biology of wound healing to improve surgical results. Explores phases of repair, factors that influence healing, and extraction socket remodeling to optimize case planning and preserve bone for implants.

  • Session 2
    Date: May 31st, 2025
    Topic: Sutures Techniques for Implants
    Focus: Sharpen surgical skills with a structured approach to suturing. Covers instruments, materials, handling, and closure principles, progressing to advanced techniques for tension-free closures and efficient healing.

  • Session 3
    Date: August 30th, 2025
    Topic: Simplify Guided Bone Regeneration
    Focus: Build a solid foundation in Guided Bone Regeneration. Learn membrane selection, defect classification, bone graft choices, and advanced augmentation strategies for stable, long-term regenerative results.
  • Session 4
    Date: November 29th, 2025
    Topic: Alveolar Ridge Split
    Focus: Master advanced ridge expansion and splitting techniques to achieve predictable outcomes in challenging implant cases. Covers stepwise bone widening, Expansion applications, grafting, and clinical case demonstrations.

Meeting Structure & Participation

This study club is ideal for clinicians seeking to deepen their practical skill set while learning in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.

Program Details and Clinical Participation
  • Facilitated by: Dr. Ali Mehdi
  • Frequency: Quarterly (4 sessions per year)
  • Format: Combination of case review, live surgery, clinical discussion, and peer collaboration
  • Location: Apple Dental Implant Centre (or designated clinical site)
Eligible Case Participation

Participating doctors may bring one case per session. Eligible case types include:

  • Single or multiple implant placements
  • Bone grafting/ Complex Exos
  • Immediate placement and immediate loading protocols
  • Full-arch (All-on-X) rehabilitations*

Case selection and planning will be reviewed before each session to ensure clinical suitability and educational value.

Pre-Submission Protocol

All cases must be submitted via the Study Club Case Template at least two weeks prior to the session. Each submission must include:

  • Patient background and medical history
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Proposed treatment plan
  • Materials and equipment
Clinical Engagement

Operating Structure: One doctor performs the procedure; one assists chairside. For full-arch cases/Complex cases, responsibilities may be shared among multiple clinicians.

Review & Discussion: Post-operative discussions cover clinical outcomes, complications, technique variations, evidence-based alternatives, and relevant literature. Equal participation and open feedback are encouraged.

Important Note: All patient management, informed consent, communication, expectations, and postoperative care are the sole responsibility of the participating doctor.
